Press Release

Most calendars are meant to glance at to check a date or write down an appointment. The nostalgic calendars of Yellow Pad Inc., Tulsa, are all that and more, much more. In fact, they may be the only calendars people will want to read, save and read again.

Available now are two new timeless keepsakes for 2008: Oklahoma – A Century of Statehood and OU Sooner Magic. The former is number four in a series of official Centennial calendars featuring: 49 great photographs, 12 key Oklahoma subjects, a 176 defining moments timeline and 16 distinguished writers who provide their thoughts on Oklahoma’s future.

The key Centennial subjects – one for each month – include music, aviation, petroleum, land run in Guthrie, weather, Oklahoma! the musical, sports, water, Native American education, transportation, patriotism and astronauts.

The distinguished writers include former governors Frank Keating and David Boren; First Lady Kim Henry; astronaut Thomas Stafford, beloved Oklahoma author Michael Wallis; Bishop Robert Hayes of the United Methodist Church; Stephen Prescott, M.D., President of the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation; Don Walker, President and CEO of Arvest Bank; Speaker of the Oklahoma House, Lance Cargill; ex-OU basketball player and Oklahoma City businessman, Renzi Stone; Cindy Ball, 2004 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year and several more.

Among the outstanding photographs are the State Capitol building with the new dome and Guardian, the Tulsa skyline with fireworks and lasers, our eight astronauts, a 1918 patriotic parade in Lawton, the Choctaw railroad line in 1902, Route 66, Northeastern State University campus in 1889, Altus Lake, a dust storm in Hooker in 1937, staking out town lots in Guthrie in 1889 and the scene 10 days later, oil derricks on the Capitol grounds, five musical legends and a colorful picture from the musical Oklahoma!.

2008 Sooner Magic is the fifth one produced by Yellow Pad on OU sports and includes the first ever timeline of 138 defining moments in OU football history. The latest almanac calendar also provides football highlights with 19 compelling charts and great old photographs including Bud Wilkinson and Bear Bryant before the 1950 Sugar Bowl.

With all this information there is still room to write down appointments on the calendar squares.

The calendars were created and published by Yellow Pad, Inc. a Tulsa design, public relations and communications firm that has produced 18 unique and original calendars including ones celebrating the Centennial, the City of Tulsa, OU, OSU, TU and NSU.
